Description

UOB is a private non-profit institution for higher learning. Rooted on the picturesque hill of Balamand, on a rural setting between the Cedars and the Mediterranean, UOB grew over the 25 years of life from a handful of students to over 5000 today. It has nine faculties and a number of institutes and research centres. Quality in education has been a major characteristic of the activities conducted at the University. Internal quality assurance is well defined and organized. The University has animated the Tempus-TLQAA project and has participated actively in several Quality Assurance projects, e.g. Tempus-LEPAC, UNDP-EQAIP. UOB believes supports and engages resources in collective efforts towards the modernization of the Lebanese Higher Education system. UOB has established strong cooperation with several institutions in Lebanon and abroad and in particular with several European and North American institutions.

Role in Project
The University of Balamand will animate the consortium in the same spirit that has been adopted in the previous Tempus project TLQAA. The University shall take a role of member in all the workpackages and will only co-lead the workpackages on pilot evaluation (WP10) and on project management (WP13) with HCERES and CIEP respectively.
The University shall also take responsibility in assuring common resources like the web site or on-line learning platform where the developed training and course materials shall be placed.
The team from the University shall actively participate in the preparation workpackage with a great interest in the core topic of the project, i.e. the link between recognition, QFs and QA. The experts from Balamand shall also be active in all the development workpackages.
The University will host several meetings and event and shall support all the dissemination and sustainability activities especially the writing of the book.
