Beirut Arab University (BAU)
BAU, is a private institution for higher education founded by in 1960 and currently encompasses 10 Faculties. BAU is committed, since its foundation to promote quality education. BAU started with one main campus in Beirut, and then in 2006, a new campus in Debbieh was established. In 2010, a new BAU branch was established in Tripoli. Recently an Environmental Research Centre and an Alumni Club were founded in the new fourth campus in the Bekaa region. BAU is involved in several European projects such as Tempus and Erasmus Mundus. BAU has signed several MOUs with institutions inside and outside Lebanon.
A Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) has been established at BAU and is supervised by the University President. There is also a quality assurance unit in every Faculty, which is supervised by the Faculty Dean.
QAU of BAU is committed to apply modern strategies to push the QA process at the university. It is also committed to participate with all the QA units of the University Faculties in establishing the QA concept and various QA systems to raise up the performance of the Faculties at all levels as a preliminary step to ensure international accreditation. BAU’s QA system is concerned with the assurance of the procedures applied in a frame-work within which the institutes can examine and enhance their performance in education, research, community service, administration and quality of management, aiming at achieving international accreditation for each programme. The duties of BAU QAU include:
- Evaluating the educational process
- Exchanging experiences and ideas regarding the development of university education with similar centres and units in Arab and international Universities
- Identifying the weaknesses and strengths in academic programs
- Monitoring the development of different Faculties, their programs and regulations to put their graduates in a distinguished position
- Creating communication channels with QA national and international organizations
