Description

The University of Alicante (UA) was founded in 1979. Being one of the youngest universities in Spain, the UA is also considered one of the most innovative and fastest developing in Spain.

More than 30000 national & 3000 international students are enrolled in 7 Faculties offering more than 50 degrees in all fields of study. The UA manages more than 2000 academic & 1200 administrative staff. Its particular field of interest lies within the context of international cooperation and particularly the training of university management staff to aid the integration of countries in transition and develop their international status and networks. Since 2001, the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ANECA) have launched a complete strategy for the institutional accreditation of the UA. UA has a quality unit and has an efficient system of innovation support measures in place, including units such as Research promotion and Technological Transfer Office, international projects office & innovation unit. UA has also a board experience in international projects on quality assurance in distinctive regions, such as CUBRIK, TLQAA, FOCUS, DoCuP aiming to strengthen capacity building through targeted training programs and improve technical capacity by conducting external institutional assessment within HEIs.

Role in Project
The University of Alicante has a recognized experience in the field of quality assurance. The University shall co-lead and support several workpackages in the project and, namely WP2 centred on studying the relationship between the delivery modes and quality assurance and WP4 dedicated to Internal QA. UAl shall advice on the definition of standards and procedures for different programmes and will co-lead one of the dedicated workpackages.

UAl shall also participate in training the Lebanese experts and in the pilot evaluation of some selected programmes.

UAl is ready to support the quality process of the project itself.
