Description
CIEP is a public body under the Ministry of Education devoted to the development of education worldwide and working in close collaboration with numerous partners, both French and international public and private organisations in the domain of education.
Its two principal fields of activity are:
- Education (general, vocational and higher): Analysis and management of education systems, advice on education reforms, institutional building, development and management of projects, follow-up of modernization and innovation processes, training of local teachers, experts and administrators, and participation in bilateral or multilateral cooperation programs.
- Languages: French and foreign languages, certifications and evaluation. Since its founding in 1946 by the French government, CIEP conceives, organizes and hosts large national international seminars and conferences. CIEP also conducts in-depth studies on educational issues. Its International Education Journal (“Revue Internationale de Sèvres”) published quarterly, includes articles by specialists from around the world on most acute educational topics.
The French ENIC-NARIC centre is a department of CIEP.
Among the 230 CIEP permanent staff around 25 are directly connected to the issues of recognition of degrees, quality assurance in higher education and Bologna Process.

Role in Project
CIEP has a sound experience in conducting higher education projects and notably those funded by the European Commission. Its main topics of interest in the domain of higher education concern Quality Assurance, Bologna Process and Training of Top Managers in Higher Education Institutions.
CIEP will provide its expertise in quality assurance, evaluation and recognition of degrees and qualifications. CIEP shall have an important role in the management of the project (WP13) as being part of the steering board and will also dedicate efforts in the dissemination of project results (WP12). Having a long expertise in QA and in recognition through the ENIC-NARIC network, CIEP will co-manage WP3 that deals with the relations between QA, NQF and Recognition. CIEP Shall also provide expertise in different other workpackages.
