The University of Lorraine :
A large multidisciplinary university, open to international and economic partnerships. Innovation through the Dialogue of Knowledge is the official signature of Université de Lorraine.
With more than 3,700 teaching and research faculty and approximately 55,000 students and 1800 PhD students, including nearly 7,000 foreign students, Université de Lorraine (UL) is one of France’s largest multidisciplinary universities. Its location in the heart of Europe, with borders on three European member states (Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg) offers to UL a privileged position for strong international partnerships.
In particular, Université de Lorraine is a member of the cross-border university network of the international region associating Lorraine, Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Luxembourg and Wallonia, and involving 7 major universities.
On a larger scale, UL is committed to numerous European and international collaborations and exchanges, including multi-partnership projects and initiatives.
Strong scientific expertise
The scientific activity of Université de Lorraine is organized in 61 research laboratories organized in 10 thematic areas and 8 research federations covering a wide range of disciplinary fields.
In addition, UL houses several technology platforms including large-scale facilities, providing research teams with the most efficient equipment.
As a main recent success, UL and all partners (NRO’s and hospital) are selected by the international jury for I-SITE grant in the frame of national main investment lead by French government. This initiative, “Lorraine Université d’Excellence”, is organized to address main socio-economic challenges in research, education and innovation approaches.
A complete range of educational opportunities
From an educational point of view, the University of Lorraine is structured in 8 Collegiums, which include the various schools, faculties, institutes. The educational opportunities cover initial training in all fields of the knowledge, with cross-cutting programmes, allowing students to adapt their studies to their personal development needs.
UL is also a major player in life-long learning in France, with more than 12000 diplomas delivered a year.
Its regular practices of internal evaluations, self-evaluations, and external audits and review make it a preferred partner to transmit and share practices.
UL and its experts provide advice and references to the Lebanese partners to help them converge in the definition of quality standards. Our experience of the implementation of internal quality management system will also profit the project.
The experts will also provide training and may help to identify specific standards and criteria for the selected programmes.
Advice will be provided to assist and support the Lebanese partners in the self-evaluation reporting and, UL will participate to the pilot evaluation and co-write the new book of the project.
The University shall provide necessary information to support the project quality process and shall advice regarding the establishment of the network of Lebanese QA experts.
